Terms of Service

Last updated October 8, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and the developer of Elim (“we”, “us”) about your use of the Elim app. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Elim.

Elim is not emergency or professional care. It is a companion for reading, reflection and prayer. It is not medical, mental-health, legal or pastoral counseling, and nothing in it is professional advice. If you or someone else may be in danger or in crisis, contact your local emergency number right away. In the United States you can call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Using Elim

You must be at least 13 years old to use Elim. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please use it with the permission of a parent or guardian.

You sign in with Apple, Google or email. You are responsible for your account and for what happens through it, so keep your sign-in secure. Give us accurate information, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.

Your content

What you write in Elim, such as journal entries, prayers, reflections and letters, belongs to you. You give us permission to store it, back it up, sync it between your devices, and process it as needed to run the features you use, and for no other purpose. How we handle it is described in our Privacy Policy.

What you choose to share with a pod is visible to that pod’s members as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for what you share, and you should only share things you are comfortable with that group seeing.

Pods and other people

Pods are meant to be small, trusting and kind. When you take part in one, you agree to:

You can leave a pod at any time. We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules or puts others at risk.

Scripture and AI features

The Bible text in Elim is the World English Bible, which is in the public domain. Reading plans, devotional notes and other material we provide are for your reflection and are not a statement of any church’s doctrine.

The optional AI features can be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable for your situation. They never replace Scripture, your own judgment, your community, or qualified professionals, and you use them at your own discretion. What the AI features send, and to whom, is described in the Privacy Policy.

Our responsibilities and yours

We work to keep Elim available and your data safe, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that it will always be uninterrupted or free of errors, and we do not promise that any particular feature will always exist.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data, arising from your use of Elim. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the law that cannot be limited, or any liability that cannot be excluded.

Elim is built to be a gentle, private place, but you are responsible for keeping a copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Ending your use

You can stop using Elim at any time and delete your account yourself in the app under Profile → Delete account. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms or misuses the service. What happens to your data when an account is deleted is described in the Privacy Policy, including that things you had already shared with a pod stay with the pod, no longer linked to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant. If you keep using Elim after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms.
